What is Pancreatitis?

 

Pancreatitis which is inflamation of the pancreas comes in two forms: chronic pancreatitis and acute pancreatitis. Both can be life threatening, but acute pancreatitis can be treated by providing intensive support to the patient. Chronic pancreatitis is more of a mystery. Some cases are caused by alcohol abuse many others are of unknown origin. Doctors who are unwilling to recognize that statistic should be avoided.
